Areas of Abandonment
As I explored the various parks I realized that in their pasts most of these parks served other purposes besides providing an area for the enjoyment of nature. Most were either areas of agricultural or industrial development and transportation. As these industries declined some of the open area left behind became the public parks shown above. However, not all of these areas became parks, old agricultural and industrial structures can still be found; this creates areas of abandonment that are being retaken by nature. These examples of open spaces retaken by nature often hold more beauty than the parks or anything else created by humans in that area.
